The three-day workshop began with an inaugural function, presided over by the chief guest Dr. C.P.Ravi Kumar, Texas Instruments India, Dr. Vizaya Kumar, Principal, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institite of Engineering and technology, Dr. C.D.Naidu, HOD ECE Dept, Chairman of VSI chapter, Hyderabad and Vice Principal, VNRVJIET; and the guest of honor Mr. Bharat Pathak, Arithos Designs
The event had an overwhelming response with 139 participants, that included students and faculty members of various colleges, and from the industry. Eminent speakers from the Industry presented diverse subjects on DSP and Embedded Systems.
The first session was on DSP and Embedded Systems – The Next Frontier by Dr. C.P.Ravi Kumar. Texas Instruments. He is also the secretary of the VLSI Society of India since 2003. The recent developments in digital signal processors and microcontrollers along with wireless technologies was discussed in that session.
The second session was on the topic, A step-by-step approach to FIR Design and Implementation - A Hardware Perspective by Mr. Bharat Pathak, Arithos designs. This tutorial illustrated the process of designing filters from frequency domain specifications, performing coefficient quantization, performing structural quantization and listing standard tests that are needed to validate the design. |
The third session was an introduction to OMAP (Opem Media Application Platform) Processor by Mr. N.Balaji, Associate professor, ECE dept, VNRVJIET. OMAP5912 is a highly integrated hardware and software platform, designed to meet the application processing needs of the next-generation embedded devices.
The fourth session was on Digital Signal Controllers – Architectures and Applications by Mr. Prohor choudhury, Texas Instruments, India. He is an application engineer at the Texas Instruments, India. The talk was on how Digital Signal Controllers can provide the right solution for a range of control applications.
