The workshop focused on systematic innovation techniques based on TRIZ, such as 9-squares, Ideal Final Result, Resources, Contradictions, and the laws of evolution. The workshop was lively and kept the audience engaged.
Two case studies were given to the participants to work on – (a) Opportunities for innovation in IP-based SoC design and (b) Opportunities for innovation in Low Power / High-Performance design in nanometer technologies. The participants were divided into groups and each group applied the techniques learnt in the class to the problems at hand. A team leader from each team presented the solutions to the class. These solutions were critiqued by the facilitators, so that the participants can better understand the systematic techniques for innovation. The participants felt confident after the workshop that they will be able to apply the techniques learnt in the class not only to their research problems but also their own real-life problems.
