The Ah-Mut Pipa Foundation

About the Foundation

The Ah-Mut Pipa Foundation is the result of the vision of a Quechan elder, Preston J. Arrow-weed. The Foundation's main office is located on the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation in Southern California. It is the goal of the Ah-Mut Pipa Foundation to stimulate Tribal culture through educational methods that blend traditional teaching styles with contemporary teaching methods. Through this teaching process, it is the hope of the Foundation to increase preservation of Tribal cultures and history, along with a stronger awareness of the surrounding environment's role in traditional Quechan life ways. This becomes a process of regeneration that will benefit not only the Tribes of the lower Colorado River region, but all communities, both Native American and non-Native American, who wish to participate.
