Virgo represents perfection through comprehension. The Celestial Virgin, the representative of this, the all-human sign, simply implies that the Virgo is meant to be the teacher and translator of Immaculate Conception. He is not mercenary or feelingless; as we have been led to believe, but is pure in thought and consequently childishly naive, for only through a neutral attitude can we judge without bias. God has chosen him to be the messenger, the pastor, and His most humble servant. His mind and his hand work together to produce excellence. His conceptions are of purity and wholesomeness. He strives to enlighten all with which he has contact. He is thought of as critical because he is too aware of imperfections and tends to correct them verbally. If he is critical, then he is to be hailed as the critic and not misjudged, as he too often is. He can be approached only through perfection, and is not easily aroused; but neither is he fickle. He is loyal; he is devoted, and knows the pleasure of being of service to mankind-for such is his lot.

The Sphinx of Egypt seemingly is a combination of Leo and Virgo, half woman, and half lion; the union of spirit and matter; the vital rays of the sun uniting with the natural or earthly body to bring forth fruit from the overshadowing of the Lord of Host. Because he is aware of imperfection, he is his own worst critic, knowing he is capable of perfection in thought and deed. He is not vain or insincere, and works hard to help others.

Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac, representing servitude. It is called fixed, cold, earthly, dry, feminine, common, scientific, maternal, negative and human. Virgo is known to have influence over the nervous system and the lower intestinal tract. The ruling planet is Mercury.
