The Wild Wild West Show

with

Wild Bill Cathey & Larry Buchanan

The Performers: The show is made up of Trick Roper and Bull Whip artist, Wild Bill Cathey and Singer/Songwriter/Southwestern Balladeer, Larry Buchanan. These seasoned entertainers have solo careers but combine their resources and talents to provide exciting and unsurpassed entertainment in the Wild Wild West Show!

Wild Bill is a New Mexico native, having grown up in Dora working on his grandfather's ranch and learning the skills and developing the moral qualities that serve him well in adult life. He took an interest in trick roping as a youngster and not a chicken or a fence post on the Cathey spread was left unroped! Today, Bill makes his home in Dora with wife, Joeli, and their four children. He is active in civic affairs including the Volunteer Fire Department, Roosevelt County Little League Baseball, and Cowboys For Christ. When not roping and performing Wild Bill does commercial welding and is well known for his "Metal Art." When travelling through Eastern New Mexico, you can see many of the unique signs and gate entrances Wild Bill has created with his cutting torch and welder.

Larry Buchanan was raised on the Texas/New Mexico border near the town of Bledsoe, Texas. Growing up on his father's farm, he herded cows, cultivated crops, and took a keen interest in the stories of the old cowboys and pioneers of that area. He and his wife, Marilyn, now own a farm near Floyd, New Mexico, where they live with their daughter, Jill. When not busy with his agricultural operation, Larry tours the country performing for theaters, festivals, fairs, schools, museums, corporate and special events, community concerts, and command performances. He has appeared in movies, on television, on the concert stage, and as a guest lecturer. He is a mainstay of the West Texas/Eastern New Mexico music scene; he has recorded eight albums and has appeared at thousands of events.

The Show: Larry kicksoff the show with a mixture of cowboy ballads, rousing folk songs, and humorous stories. Wild Bill then takes the stage, bull whip in hand, and gives a demonstration of this rare art. He sometimes recruits volunteers from the audience to hold a target. He hasn't missed----yet! Larry then returns to the microphone for more captivating stories and songs while Bill gets ready for the big finale---his trick rope exhibitions! During the final segment Wild Bill performs exciting rope tricks including the Texas Skip, the Wedding Ring, the Butterfly, and his own extraordinary "Big Loop," a sixty-foot spinning coil of rope that starts small and ends up fully encircling Bill. Their programs are usually thirty minutes to an hour in length depending on the venue and circumstances.

The unparalleled combination of western songs and good humor along with the fascinating physical dexterity of the rope exhibitions make this fast moving, lively, Wild Wild West Show a big hit with the whole family!
