2:183 Yaa 'ayyuhaa 'allaziina 'aamanu kutiba alaykum as. S.iyaam ka-maa kutiba alaa 'allaziina min qablikum la allakum tattaquun
2:183 O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,-
2:184 Ayyaam(an) ma dudaat fa man kaana minkum mared.(an) 'aw alaa safar fa iddah min ayyaam 'ukhar wa alaa 'allaziina yut.equunhu fidyah t.a aam miskiin fa man tat.awwa a khayr(an) fa huwa khayr lahu wa 'an tas.umu khayr lakum 'in kuntum ta lamuun
English
(Yusuf Ali):
2:184 (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a
journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those
who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent.
But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it
is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.
Abstinence is better than
seeking a remedy
Scratching the abrasion only makes it worse
Fasting is the foremost principle of Medicine
Fast, and behold the strength of the spirit
