The 8th. International Eid-Milaad-un-Nabi Conference was
held on 15th. July 2000 in Toronto, Canada. This annual
conference is sponsored each year by the Canadian branch of the World
Islamic Mission. This keynote speaker this year was Qaid-e-Ahl Sunna
Hazrat ‘Alama Shah Ahmad Noorani Siddiqui.
Other scholars of the Ahl-Sunna present were ‘Alama Qamar-uz-Zaman
Azmi of Manchester-UK, Dr. Imam Youssef Chebli of Lebanon and Maulana
Muhammad Hussain Rizvi of New York. Also present at this successful event
was Qari Fasihuddin Soharwardi who visited Canada for the first time and
Dr. Syed Rashid Ali of UAE. Two local scholars Maulana Nasir al-Qadri of
WIM Montreal branch and Maulana Younus Ashrafi of WIM Toronto branch
participated in this auspicious and blessed event.
This prestigious Eid-Milaad Conference was held in the west end of
Toronto at Square One, Mississauga – close to the eleven acres site
purchased by World Islamic Mission (Canada) in 1999 where they have
established Masjid Noor-ul-Haram in Oakville, Ontario.
The theme of the conference was: Islam – Meeting the challenge of
the 21st. century in light of the Seerat and Sunnah of
Rasoolulaah salalaahu alahi wa Sallam. All of the speakers
delivered a very high caliber of lectures and the atmosphere of the
conference can be described as intense and electrifying. However, the
naats recited by Qari Fasihuddin Soharwardi tempered the event with much
delight and the audience continuously interrupted him with ‘Nara-e-taqbir
– Allahu Akbar’ and Nara-e-Risala – Ya Rasoolulaah’. Hazrat ‘Alama
Shah Ahmad Noorani Siddiqui delivered the final keynote lecture in English
in which he explained how the decline in morality and spirituality in the
West can only be replaced by Islam and only by understanding and emulating
the seerat and sunnah of Huzoor Nabi Kareem salalaahu alahi wa Sallam.
The event was concluded by everyone sending Salaam on Huzoor Nabi Kareem salalaahu
alahi wa Sallam and by a passionate dua offered by Qaid-e-Ahl
Sunna Hazrat ‘Alama Shah Ahmad Noorani Siddiqui who prayed for the
success of Islam in Canada and North America and that all Muslims may
truly practice Islam according to the sunna of Syed-ul-‘aalamena
Muhammdur Rasoolulah salalaahu alahi wa Sallam
This year at the conference World Islamic Mission (Canada) initiated
the Maulana Abdul Aleem Siddiqui Award in memory of Mubaligh-e-Azam His
Eminence Maulana Abdul Aleem Siddiqui Rahmatullah Alaih who visited
Canada in 1939 to spread the Message of Islam as a religion of peace, love

presented this award to Barrister Syed Mumtaz Ali Saheb who came to Canada
