Playpen Identification

Not many people know that playpens came in 2 different versions. Below explains the 2 kinds so that there is no more confusion of them in the pony world any longer.

Version 1:

This is possibly the first version introduced by Hasbro. It has smaller pegs (the things that stick out) and the holes do not show through to the other side. The bottom line of pegs (the side where the base fits in) have a flat side and are about have the size of the pegs near the top of the playpen. The pegs are very delicate and tend to break easily.
Version 2:

This is probably the second version made by Hasbro. The pegs are much larger and they have knobs at the end. These pegs are nearly impossible to break (unless you are trying). However, the holes that they go into break easily. The holes go all the way to the back. As you can see in the picture, they often get a crack in the side.

As far as I can tell, these different versions did not go by area or by pony. AKA it is most likely that Baby Glory came with both version one and version two. I believe that they are different because of the year that they were produced. However, I’m not sure which one was the earliest but I can speculate that version one came before version two.
