flying in Israel

Several reasons makes Israel one of the world's finest soaring sites.
Being a continental junction between Europe, Asia and Africa , Israel forms a bottle neck for thousands of migrating birds during spring and fall. If you happen to be here in April - May or September - October, you can easily join flocks of storks, pelicans and birds of pray while they are thermaling over Zichron - Ya'akov, Gonen, Yavniel and the Gilboa mountain.

And what about winter storms? Well, fortunately, we have very few of those. And what about stormy weather?

Ridge soaring in Natanya.

In the summer, the Mediterranean breeze starts at 10:00 AM almost every day, and gives us 7 km of soarable ridge in Natanya, and 5 km in Ga'ash, both over the coastline.

For the thermal hunters there is always a good chance for XC flights from Zichron and the Tavor (Tabor) mountain, eastwards, to the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Hights.

Flying season in Israel is all year round, though the ridge is soarable from mid April to October (May - September is good almost every day!)
