Why Greenwood Village Is The Worst City In Colorado – By Wes Johnson

You would thing that because Greenwood Village is one of the most affluent suburbs in Denver it would be a well-maintained section of Denver. Brother have you got that all wrong.

I guess if I had to work and drive in Sheridan or Commerce City I would feel that they truly belong with this moniker. Well I do not have to live or drive through either place. Plus they have an excuse: poverty. Whereas Greenwood Village is easily one of the most high rent places in Denver.

Lets start with the potholes that stretch almost the entirety of the city limit. Its like driving on the show “The Fall Guy” with Lee Majors. Christ I do not know how many twists and turns I have memorized for me early morning drive, but I will tell you it is more than a few. If I could send my car’s alignment bill to the city I would, but when they won’t even fill damned potholes what do you think the odds would be (even in my fantasy world). Its pathetic and sad that they can not even have good roads. Pass by their police station and its 8,000 new police cars. I can guess where their budget is.

Next case and point is Greenwood Village’s completely mysterious and random road construction projects. Oh no, they are not fixing potholes. They are refixing the same road over-and-over-and-over again. A new cable has to be laid…rip up the road. A new pipe has to go in…rip up the road. A new sidewalk has to go in. Rip up the road. Some guys need to stand around all day. Rip up the road. To make this even worse is the fact that it is the same damned street every week; Belview. Which is congested under normal conditions as dozens of office building empty out onto the 4 lane street. Throw in construction and you are in a world of chaos.

Which brings me to the point of how Greenwood Village has taken to city planning like a dog takes to painting. Its messy and looks like crap. Forget turn lanes that make sense. Forget wide enough roads. Forget the goofy roads to get out of the city (re 225 frontage road). Forget trying to get onto the onramp lanes to I-25. There has been talk of redesigning the roads. But after a year there has been squat. I guess construction crews are too busy looking busy. It’s a case of 50 pounds of stuff in a 10 pound bag. Too many people to few roads.

Lastly this area is the domain of clueless drivers. Whether driving through or people who live here (see my bit about rich drivers in my Park Meadows rant). But people will try and save 4 seconds by cutting down to the off ramp and back on, running the red light to boot. I have almost been smacked by these asses more than a few times. Then there are the clueless SUV or Infinity drivers who think they own the road. Hey you live here and the roads are crap! You can have em.

Of course maybe that’s why they drive SUV’s….

Good night. God Bless. And if you are a member of the Greenwood Village police, this was just a lampoon, a jest…..a quick ticket…

(AS A NOTE: Greenwood Village has finally done SOME road repair, after many days of good weather...but too little to late, they cheesed this author off.)
