NC State Women's Tennis Complete Play At ACC Indoor Championship CHAPEL HILL (January 22, 2000) - The NC State women's tennis team completed play at the ACC Indoor Championships hosted by the University of North Carolina on Saturday. After advancing to the round of 16, State's Marissa Gildemeister was defeated by Anne Marie Milton of Wake Forest 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. The Pack's Landis Strader, Loni Worsley, and Brie Glover each competed in the consolation rounds on Saturday, but all three were defeated. The NC State web page reported the match as follows: NC State swept all six of its singles matches against ASU, led by senior Marissa Gildemeister's 6-1, 6-1 win over ASU's Vanessa Manicom at No. 1. Senior Francie Barragan and freshman Loni Worsley each earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Senior Brie Glover defeated Jennifer Fayad 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4, while sophomore Katrina Gildemeister defeated Alex Chong 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5. Freshman Myrna Bawono rounded out the singles match-ups by defeating Donna Altenburger 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action, the Gildemeister sister's defeated Manicom and Lane 8-4 at No. 1. Glover and Bawono teamed up in the No. 2 slot to beat Eberhart and Chong 8-3, while freshman Landis Strader and Worsley defeated Fayad and Altenburger 8-5 at No. 3. WOLFPACK INVITATIONAL RESULTS NC State's Kristen Nicholls won the Flight C Singles at the Wolfpack Invitational by defeating Jen Tuchband of Virginia 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in the championship match. Francie Barragan won two singles matches in the A Flight with victories over Elizabeth Moreno of Davidson and Jenny Gonzalez of UNC-G before being forced to withdraw due to severe cramping. Marissa and Katrina Gildemeister defeated the 48th ranked doubles team in the nation (Leslie Cook and Christie Schweer of Virginia) to win the Flight A Doubles title.
