Thug 4 Life

"The main reason I left the Northeast for greener pastures is, the powers-that-be felt that I wasn't worthy of my rightul spot (in the pecking order)." - Syxx, summer of 1997.

James J. Dillon, the chairman of WCW's Executive Committee, has had to deal with the Wolfpack for years. He was a coat and tie clown who worked for another wrestling promotion, a decided "yes man" to his superior. He had the unenviable task of telling the boys who bring in the bucks - the wrestlers - all the news they didn't want to hear.

"Say, J.J., can we spend Thanksgiving at home with our family?" No, Dillon would answer.

"Say, J.J., can we attend our kids' birthday party?" No, he'd say.

"Sure, we knew it was coming from higher up, but, if that's the job you choose, then you've gotta accept what comes with it," Syxx said.

Like having your briefcase locked to the ceiling or vandalism to your personal belongings. Should you wonder why? No way. If you accept a job that leads to having a lot of enemies, you've gotta be ready for the shots, as cold and cruel as they may be.

"We're not the only people who have bad feelings for J.J. Dillon. He's one of the smartest individuals in this industry, but, just because he's been behind the scenes for seven or so years (elsewhere), don't think for one minute that, that conniving...shoot, I can't say what I really think about him...that can't be printed anywhere," Syxx said, stopping himself in mid-sentence.

Well, J.J., guess what? You can't touch the Wolfpack! Not Syxx. Not Scott Hall. Not Kevin Nash. Nor any other members of the New World Order. If Dillon thinks he has power or say so over the nWo now that he's "high-ranking" within WCW, he needs to think again. Or just flash back to Monday Nitro or a couple of months ago: Dillon "insisted" Syxx break his Syxx-Shooter finisher or risk disqualification. Syxx popped out of the hold, then lambasted Dillon like...well, like so many other would have liked to. Was there a fine from Dillon? No. Was there a suspension from Dillon? No. Was there punishment toward Syxx for his action? No. Ain't gonna happen.

Yelling at Dillon, Syxx said, "was like opening the flood gates, like letting the steam out of the kettle. I was yelling at him for myself, and for everyone else. And you can bet there were a lot of others who would have liked to have been in that position."

Dillon has been a thorn in Syxx's side for years, perhaps jealous of the young superstar's worldwide fan appeal. Dillon is past his prime, well past his prime. Syxx is a marquee player in our sport, regardless of Dillon's efforts to restrain the black-haired battler from Minneapolis.

"They wanted to keep suppressing me, keep holding me down when I worked in the Northeast, and that definitely includes J.J. Dillon," Syxx said. "Well, since joining the nWo, I'm doing just fine now, thank you. I'm rich. I've got a family. My life doesn't revolve 100 percent around wrestling, it is second to my family. I have a balance in my life now.

"So, those in the Northeast can kiss my @$$. You too J.J.

"J.J. was the one who always fined us and, by doing so, was basically taking food from our kids' mouths. Not anymore."

Another WCW-ite feeling the fury of Syxx these days is Calgary's pride and joy, the mangy-haired Mama's boy named Chris Jericho. Let's remember what that hockey stick did in Los Angeles in June: Syxx wrestled Rey Mysterio, Jr. for the Cruiserweight Championship belt, then accepted an impromptu title challenge from Jericho. The results...well, weren't to our liking, let's leave it at that.

Jericho is, as of my writing, the reigning WCW Cruiserweight Champion.

"Jericho claims he wasn't supposed to be there (in Los Angeles), but just somehow ended up at The Forum. And he just so happened to be there in his tights," Syxx said. "Hey, the fans aren't stupid. They know it wasn't some impromptu deal Jericho concocted at the last minute. Yeah, it's just another conspiracy from WCW to get the belts away from the nWo.

"I really have nothing against Jericho personally. I'll treat him like the mutt he is. I'll walk all over him like the runt he is. I ain't gonna blame him for what he's doing, what he did in Los Angeles. He's just trying to make a name for himself. Just because he can't do it as good as I can do it...hey, ya can't yell at him for trying. Chris Jericho has been following behind me ever since I met him years ago, when my career first took off and his didn't. He's always been a step behind me."

Jericho snagged the Cruiserweight Championship in less than a minute; however, there was no "official" contract for the match. So, in reality, the title still belongs to Syxx. Just ask Dillon or one of his legal stooges.

"It wasn't embarrassing losing to Jericho. And it wasn't Jericho who really beat me that night. If anyone beat me, it was Mysterio because he gave me a hell of a fight," Syxx said. "That Canadian punk gave me a helluva kick, but hey, he was fresh, straight out of the dressing room."

What's ahead for Syxx? Who knows. Only the often psychotic soldier who is Syxx can answer that. The gold is gone from around his waist as of my writing, but not the violent ways or the venomous attitude. Syxx is now 25 with a drive unmatched in his career.

"I don't have any singular goals. Everything is a unit; the Wolfpack," Syxx said. "Right now I know what I can do, and I'm gonna do it. I'm in this sport now for the dough, the money, the green-backs. Start handing over the money and there won't be any problems. Then, and only then, the Wolfpack will be suu-weet, as everyone likes to say.

"The nWo has fallen into place like I wanted it to fall into place. I don't think other people foresaw my prominence. I think everyone thought I was going to be the stooge for the group. Not so. Just because I am unselfish for the team, I choose to stay in the background for awhile, but when they need me to step up to the plate, I can do that too."

Syxx added, "As most people know, I used to wrestle elsewhere in the United States. Things there were nice, and then things weren't so nice and I had a little lull in my life. That lull was due to where I was making my living. So, I took some time off; a lot of people then thought I was through. Then when they heard I was coming back, they said I wouldn't be anything. They thought I was washed-up, hurt, done, finished. And with a dozen concussions, a broken neck, a herniated disc, and other major problems, hey, maybe they had reason to think that. But, I am back...and those people can shove it up their @$$3$!"

This was in a sidebox; Syxx discusses the Bronco Buster

Call it the "Smack", or the "Whack", or the "In Your Face, Jack." But Syxx's high-energy "strut over an opponent," for lack of a better term, is the talk of the wrestling world.

I asked Syxx about the "Stroke," and here's what he had to say:

"It's male dominance. I'm showing that I'm dominant over my opponent. It's got nothing to do with anyone's sexual preference. I'm just on my opponent's chest, riding him like a bull. No insinuations are made. And anyone who is offended by it, I think they may need to take a look in the mirror and re-evaluate their own security. I just do it for the hell of it.

"Hey, my moves hurt and then when I do it, it's just an added measure of insult."
