Unfortunately, none of our pictures turned out for Robert. However, he
is a very funny man! He and Steve Sears seem to be two "class clowns."
He brought signs with him such as "applause" and "ooh-ahh" which he held
up and the audience complied with. He also brought a number of film
examples with him. The first was an example of how a scene gets
put together, with different scenes shot and then edited into one
seemless scene with music and sound effects. It's really odd to watch
the scene without music and sound effects, and it looks just plain old
silly. The editors really have a hard job ;) He said that some
episodes can take as long as 7 weeks just for the editor's cut, which
is the first cut. Then comes the director's, producer's, etc...
He also brought a film with continuity errors on it. These are things
like a chakram falling off at the beginning of the scene and then
appearing back in its correct spot later. Other examples are a staff
going from one hand to the other in a scene where it shouldn't have.
I love catching these little things, and now I have even more to look
for ;)
My favorite part was, however, the blooper tape. Some of it was from
the 2nd fan kit, but some of it was also new. My favorites were Renee
singing "how could I hate you?" in a scene from Bitter Suite... she sings
almost as badly as me! I also loved the scene where Renee, Lucy, and
another actor walk into a room, and expect to find pillows under a blanket.
This time, however, one of the stage hands (or someone, I don't know
who) is hiding under the blanket and scares the living *%#^ out of them.
Lucy couldn't stop screaming and laughing... it was so funny!
I really enjoyed Robert, if only because of the bloopers. Actually, he was
very informative, and since I'm interested in all aspects of film
and tv, his presentation was one of the most interesting for me.
