Hebrews 13:4

"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."

The purpose of this article is to go against what everyone has been teaching Generation X. The media has told us for years now that sex before marriage is OK. Not directly, but through movies, music, and television shows, sex has been completely encouraged. If our country has truly been founded on the Bible, then lets not let the world take that away from us.

Lets take our country for Jesus Christ!

The Bible talks about God looking for just one generation that will stand for Him. Can we be that generation? Can we stand up and fight against the things that our culture practices? This is just a milestone. A beginning to let others know we're serious about this one issue. Who knows? Maybe by the year 2000 we can show the world we're serious about MANY issues that differ with what our country's culture.

Lets Make A Difference!

I don't condone any type of violence at all. But I will say that some violence has more sense than others. The violence at shows is b.s. it accomplishes nothing except for the closing down of venues, and keeping tours from hitting certain areas in the country. Furthermore, for all those who are trying to beat people into being drug free, I must say, I don't hate you, but I abhor what you do. I can relate to the frustration of the smoke in your eyes, drunk people in your face deal, but let's face it most venues wouldn't survive without the money they make at the bar, and until there are smoking bans at venues, people have the legal right to be smoking there. Furthermore all beating people up does is create a war between drug users and non-drug users. but the world is not going to become drug free, especially not through senseless violence. It pisses me off that my friends and I can go to a show, and because of an X on my hand I may skip a beating, but because of a cigarette in my friends hand, or simply the lack of an X, they'll get jumped. Don't let straight edge blind your reality. WE ARE ALL EQUAL!

sXe and Christianity

What is straight edge? Straight edge is basically a drug free life style. No drinking, smoking, or use of any other mind altering substances. Some do not ingest caffeine or take any medications. Many straight edgers also believe in monogamy, and won't engage in casual or promiscuous sex. Some sXe are also vegetarian or vegans. The most important thing about being straight edge is that it is your beliefs. You are straight because of what you believe, and not because of what others tell you to think or do. This is something that you do out of respect for your body and mind. Faith is defined as confidence or loyalty. So I would say that straight edgers have confidence in their beliefs, and remain loyal to their beliefs.

Faith is an important part of religion; you should have faith in your beliefs and stick with them. I know that today religion is a very touchy subject and there have been many examples of hypocrisy in the Christian faith. But we must remember that religion is a specific system of beliefs and when a religion is started it is the beliefs of that one person and not every body is going to agree with all of that persons beliefs. That is why there have been so many changes to the Christian faith that have been interpreted as hypocrisy. The new heads of the religion are not always going to have the same beliefs as the previous ones, hence causing reform to the religion. Also as times change and cultures evolve new challenges and issues need to be faced. This should help to explain some of the inconsistency in the past. Despite the changes that have occurred over time, many of the main beliefs of Christianity have remained constant. A lot of the basic beliefs of Christianity are very similar to the beliefs of many straight edgers. That is why I'm surprised that there is not a larger number of sXe Christians. After all, some of the beliefs of Christianity include respect for yourself, and your body and mind, abstinence from sex until after marriage. I realize that Christianity may have some aspects that you don't agree with. I know that there are a few things that I don't agree with, but my beliefs correspond with the main beliefs of Christianity. I take the views that I share with the religion and ignore the small technical aspects that I don't agree with. Christianity is defined as the belief in Christ, and Christ led a drug free life style and did not engage in promiscuous sex. The way that he led his life is very similar in many ways to the way I would like to lead mine. I find it very reassuring that I have someone that I can talk to at anytime, some one that understands, someone there when it feels that the whole world is against me.

Well that is how I feel about the similarities between sXe and Christianity, Thanx for listening. If you have any comments or criticism Feel free to Email me at dburns@zoo.uvm.edu or you can instant message me; my screen name is dylanSXE. I would love to here others comments and viewpoints.
