Big Sable Point Lighthouse

Big Sable Point Lighthouse was built in 1867. Big Sable was called Grande Point au Sable when the light first shone. The original 112-foot brick tower has an attached keeper's house. By the early 1900s, the tower had deteriorated and was encased in iron plates. Cement was poured between the plates and brick. The tower's mid section was painted black to serve as a daymark. The light was automated in 1985.

Little Sable Point Lighthouse

Little Sable Point Lighthouse was built in 1872, it is one of the tallest lights on Lake Michigan. The keeper's dwelling was destroyed in 1954 when the station was automated. Its brick tower was left standing in the sandy dunes.
