Adam is the first angel. It can be glimpsed for a short while in the introduction sequence and can be seen in it's embryonic state when Kaji presents it to Gendoh after the Unit-02's first battle at sea.

Lilith is the second angel though no one is really certain how Nerv Japan managed to obtain it or when they obtained it. The second angel is a topic of great confusion. It's blood is LCL and is in Central Dogma. It's face is covered with Steele's coat of Arms.

Sachiel is the angel that Shiji had to fight the first time he steps into the Unit-01. It has a retractable spear-like weapon in it's palm that it used to hammer at Unit-01's head.

Shamsel is the angel that had whip-like arms. Shiji had to let in Tohji and Kensuke into Unit-01 to protect them and then he went berserk and attacked the angel.

Ramiel is the diamond shaped angel that could fire concentrated energy blasts at any approaching target. It also had a very strong AT Field. Shinji had to use a prototype positron cannon that used energy from all over Japan to destroy it.

Gaghiel is the aquatic angel that Asuka fought together with Shinji. It was destroyed by 2 destroyers that self-destructed within it after Unit-02 forced open it's jaws.

Israfel is the angel that split into two separate halves when Asuka sliced it into two. It was destroyed only with syncronised attacks by Unit-01 and Unit-02.

Sandalphon is the angel found in an embryonic state in a volcano. On an operation by Unit-02 to recover it it emerged and attacked Unit-02. It was destroyed by rapid thermal expansion.

Matarael is the angel that attacked Nerv during a power failure. It looks like a spider and used concentrated acid to attack Nerv HQ. It was destroyed with the teamwork of Shinji, Asuka and Rei.

Sahaquiel is the angel that attacked by dropping itself from space, it ascertained the correct location by dropping parts of itself as a test before dropping itself. It was stopped by the three Evas whose AT Fields were at full and it was destroyed using a progressive knife to cut through the angel's AT Field and then stabbing the eye.

Ireul attacked when the Evas were going additional testing. It is a microscopicly sized and rapidly evolving angel that could hack into their magi system. It was stopped by Ritsuko and Maya.

Leliel is the angel that's body was a shadow (Dirac's Ocean). It was destroyed when Unit-01 went berserk inside the angel.

Bardiel took over Unit-03 which was piloted by Tohji when it was undergoing testing. It was destroyed by Unit-01 with the dummy plug system.

Zeruel had two razor sharp arms and optic blasts that tore through the first 18 levels of Nerv HQ. It was eventually stopped by Unit-01 after going berserk.

Areal is the angel that orbited the earth and attacked the human mind itself. It was stopped by Unit-00 using the Lancea Longinus.

Armisael appeared to be a ring shaped entity with a double helix pattern. When approached the ring broke apart and attacked by trying to assimilate the Eva. It was destroyed upon the self-destruction of Unit-00.

Tabris is perhaps not one but two angels. It is believed that both Kaoru and Rei are considered the last angel. Kaoru was killed by Unit-01.

Lilims are the last angel. It is the humans that are the last it would seem.
(In my opinion i belive that ray represented the 18th angel and not the 17th but not many people seem to agree with me)
