Yui's soul is traped inside Unit-01

Grendo want's to implement third impact so he can see Yui angain. (He ends up getting his wish and you learn a little about his soul)

Steele wants to implement third impact to tracend humans to a higher plain. Human souls can live forever inside the Evangelion Unit.

Lilith and Adam were the same at one time. They split when they crashed into the earth (First Impact)

Angels were created from Adam

Humans come from Lilith (Lilith is the not so good side of Adam, that's why there is always sufering in the world of humans)

Lilith's blood is LCL

Adam was found and shrunk into an embryo, causing Second Impact.

Third Impact was caused when Rei(with Adam) went into Lilith, and Unit-01 and the Mass Produced Evangelions formed a Sephiroth.

Shinji and Asuka were the only one's left alive in an ocean of LCL becoming Adam and Eve of a new World.

When third impact occured all life returned to LCL.

Evangelion really is about the human heart.

The two different endings really arn't diferent. One is what hapened in the physical world and the other in the mental world.

Rei is deffinatly an angel. Some belive she was the 17th angel. I belive she represents the 18th though because she was a clone of a human and humans(lilums) are the 18th. Also after impact occured shinji and asuka were left, who were human and the survivors of impact are spose to be the angel that implemented it. Also she merged with Lilith, Angles were looking for Adam because they were created from Adam not Lilith, which means rei was created from lilith and not Adam and which angle was created from lilith..exactly.

Shinji strangles Asuka at the end because he acts on his first impulse when he returns to reality but when Asuka touches him he realizes what he is doing and collapses, feelling ashamed, crying uncontrolably, which Asuka thinks is discusting.
