About ShahRukh Khan by the webmaster
|
I
was a 14 yr old boy when I saw Shahrukh khan
as 'Abhimanyu' in the Tele-serial Fauji (Soldier).
I knew that he is going to be the next superstar
from the first episode itself. He also acted
in a tele-series called 'Circus' which portrayed
the life of circus performers. He made his movie
debut in 1992 with Deewana and the nation became
shahrukh khan crazy. In 1993 he shot to stardom
in his two successive negative roles as a paranoid
lover in Baazigar and Darr. I think for the
first time in bollywood movies, a negative role
was given so much importance and audiences loved
the negative. Darr had Sunny deol as hero, but
the audience were on Shahrukh khan's side, even
though he played the bad guy. 1995 proved to
be a defining year in his career, Dilwale Dulhania
Le Jayenge, his biggest hit firmly positioned
him as the most successful actor in hindi romantic
movies. After DDLJ followed string of successful
love stories, Pardes, Dil to Pagal
Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Mohabbatein. His
association with director/producer Yash Chopra
has resulted in such successful hits as Darr,
Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein and Veer-Zaara.
He has also had success working with Karan Johar
and Yash Johar on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi
Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kal Ho Na Ho.Shahrukh
has shared good onscreen chemistry with many
of his female co-stars. All of the five movies
in which he co-starred with actress Kajol were
box office hits. His association with Madhuri
Dixit in several movies has also been commercially
successful, most notably in Anjaam, Koyla, Dil
to Pagal Hai and Devdas.Shahrukh also owns a
production house called Dreamz Unlimited along
with actress Juhi Chawla (a friend ever since
they co-starred in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman)
and film director Aziz Mirza In 2004, his production
house Red Chilles Entertainment produced the
biggest hit of the year Main Hoon Na. Despite
his success, critics and others have often criticized
Shahrukh for sticking to "safe" romantic
roles (such as the ones he portrays in all of
Karan Johar's films). Swades, however, silenced
many of these dissenting opinions; it featured
Shahrukh in a low-key and understated performance
that was in utter contrast to his previous efforts.
Shahrukh khan's latest movie Don is a remake
of SuperStar Amitabh Bachan's Don. Many of Shahrukh's
critics say that he is not as talented as Amitabh
Bachan, but Don - The chace begins had proved
them wrong. Shahrukh has already proved that
he is no less than Dilip Kumar by portraying
alcoholic lover in the hit classic remake Devdas. After Chak De India, ShahRukh Khan has once again proved that he is the most versatile actor in recent times.
