2. What is that funny diagram in Page 3?
The symbol represents the Philosopher stone, also known as the Sorceror's Stone, the fabled
rock that turns base metal into gold, and liquid into the Elixir of Life. Although an ancient legend,
it has appeared in two recent novels that both deal with magic and wonder, "The Alchemist" and
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (or the Sorceror's Stone in the United States.)"
However, the Philosopher's Stone will not appear in the story. It is an interesting object but I
only want to explore the idealism the Philosopher's Stone represents: to change and to purify.
Kakyou's warning to Kamui and Fuuma's monologues have touched these topics in "X." I would
like to pursue them further.
Besides, I never understood the significance of the Sephiroth, the "Tree of Life" in "X" -- or in
"Neo Genesis Evangelion." I have yet to understand why it was important or even necessary to
show that symbol. Perhaps if Satsuki Yatouji from "X" would explain, the matter might be
settled.
Or maybe not. ^_^
