ROCOCO ARCHITECTURE

The most complete examples of Rococo architecture are to be found in Southern Germany and in Austria. The palaces of the princes and the Catholic churches are often good examples. A fine Rococo building in Bavaria (Germany) is the Residenz (bishop's palace) in Wurzburg, designed by Balthasar Neumann and was built in 1719-44. It contains the famous Imperial Room with ceiling frescoes by Tiepolo. (Fresco painting is a technique in which painting is applied onto wet plaster.)
