The Other Will Never Know WhY
Copyright 1998 Wayne Severson

A Cowboy comes ridin' in
Drivin' in his pickup truck
He has big plans to buy some land
All he needs is a little good luck
He rents a room near the local saloon
And goes inside for some drinks
He meets a girl from an ancient tribe
Who tells him what she thinks
It wasn't too bad she was very polite
But what she said it sounded strange
The land is our mother she can't be owned
I hope you don't fence the range

Cowboys and Indians, never saw eye to eye
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why

Late at night in a country bar
The band's playing rock and roll
They fill the floor with hats and boots
'Cause the music's played with soul
Now a man walks in, takes a chair
Sits, his back to the wall
The sounds are strong, so are the drinks
When he stands he starts to fall
But he takes a stance, he wants to dance
To a song with a country beat
The band just laughs as he turns his back
And wobbles towards his seat

Long hair rockers and country boys, never saw eye to eye
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why

You think you have the answers, You think you know the truth
You think you have good reasons, to do what you must do
But do you have compassion? Do you care what's right?
Or do you need forgiveness, to help you sleep at night?

Now a woman and a man that's another thing,
What makes us attract?
Do we know inside that the opposite sex,
Possesses what we lack?
A husband and a wife as they go through life,
They learn to disagree
It doesn't take long to understand,
They both think differently
A woman wants a man to open his heart,
And give his love to her
A man wants a woman to believe in him
Even when he feels unsure

Ladies and gentlemen, never saw eye to eye
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why
Makes no difference what one believes
The other will never know why
