Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) is one of the pioneering Research and Development
Organization under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The main charter of the Establishment is to develop aero gas-turbines for military applications, besides carrying out advanced research work in the area of aero gas-turbine subsystems. In addition, the Establishment is responsible for establishing the requisite testing and prototype manufacturing facilities for components and full-scale engine development.

The Establishment has a team of about 1250 technical personnel drawn from various faculties for science and engineering which includes aeronautics, mechanical, electronics, computer science, materials science and applied mathematics.
