Our Morrison Family

The Morrison family has been found in Madison County, Mississippi Territory, as early as 1809. The 1809 Census, shows, John Morrison with, 5 males under 21 years, 2 females under 21 years, 2 males over 21 years, 1 female over 21 years of age. The 1810 Tax List for Madison County, Mississippi Territory lists John Morrison. However the 1811 Tax List for Madison County, Mississippi Territory list a William Morrison. The 1812 Land Grants lists, John Morrison and Stephen Kennamer. On 12 August 1812, John Morrison was also granted land which he sold to James Smith, on 11 September 1817. An indenture made on 11 September 1817 between John Morrison and wife Nancy Morrison, selling one-hundred acres of land to David Age. On 17 March 1823, John Morrison sold land to Peter Morrison. On 15 September 1825, Peter Morrison sold land to David Pettus. Peter Morrison also sold land in Madison County, Alabama to Stephen S. Ewing on 18 August 1843.
