   When I was younger and knew everything, I poo-pooed the power of prayer.  As I got older and things got really challenging I realized I knew nothing and then found prayer.
   Prayer is many things to many people.  It can mean kneeling to the east at dawn and dust, it can be the reciting of the rosary, chanting in a Buddhist monastery, burning sage to Great Spirit or allowing onself to become lost in a sunset.
   It can be lighting a candle, reading the bible or sending energy.  I am a member on many spiritual web lists.  The first thing any of us do when there is a crisis is ask for prayer in whatever way each member individually practices.  Now, each member of course is on other lists and so on and so forth so as this request goes around the world there are at least  thousands of people adding their will for a healing, to help someone find a job and sometimes to even help someone cross over in peace.
   Over the years I have seen miracles.  People who were braindead and in comas woke up, most recently a young girl who was in a coma with a depressed skull and given no hope by doctors woke up and spoke!
   Since we can never know what we cannot change, we all work for the greater good with, we hope, enough acceptance to know Creator's plan willvery often remain unknown.  Sometimes a person does not make it but, does that mean our prayers were not answered?  Sometimes I think if we knew what lay on the other side of the great divide we would all line up for tickets.  But, such is not way of life nor should it be.  Those of us who live despite all odds are to reflect to the world the power of prayer and those of us who witness it, continue to serve in prayer.

Light a Candle

Oh say, while you're at it-

will you light a candle for me?

It seems HE doesn't hear me

when I dare pray just for me.

Ask I receive hope and faith

with which to greet each day

and y'know, while you're at it

ask I get strength everyday.

       By and by a touch of inner peace

     would be greatly welcomed too

do this for me, will ya?

and I'll do the same for you.

Let us both light candles

and vigil each other through

so tomorrow casts no shadows

upon me or you

Light an eternal candle for peace, for the sick, for those who cannot pray for themselves or for yourself.

 

Remember to pray for the helpless, the hopeless, the sick, the insane and anyone unable to pray for themselves.  Pray for the earth and be real stewards of the environment.
