Save your change in your change jar.

Round up your checkbook when making a payment, Round down your checkbook when making a deposit.

Skip something once a week  (coffee, newspaper, ice cream, vending machine snack) and put that money aside to send to the creditor.

If you are in line to buy something, really look and see if there are any impulse items!  Put those back and send the cost of the item into the creditors.

Use coupons or loyalty cards and send the "you saved" amount in to your creditor.

Remember to track your spending and find other small ways to squeeze a few more pennies out.    You can visit the Tracking Our Spending board to get ideas and help with tracking issues.

Sample Ways to Pay Your Creditor

If you are paying a credit card, simply count up your change/saved amount at the end of the month, find your latest statement and mail the payment to the payment address (either check or money order).   It doesn't have to be when your bill comes due, you can mail in a payment at any time.  What I do, is enclose a note (so I can fold the paper around the check) with a "please credit account ####" also include the account number on your check/mo.

For those of you that do on-line payment, just do an on-line payment for that amount.

If your target debt is a loan of some sort (car loan, mortgage, student loans), I would send the extra in with your regularly scheduled loan payment with a note of where you would like the amount applied (usually principal but I know for some of us with mortgages, we may choose to apply to escrow).
