After the destruction of the Enclave, the Chosen One, the Arroyo villagers,
and the Vault 13 citizens colonized a small patch of land north of San
Francisco using one of the G.E.C.K.s the Chosen One found on his travels and
thus founded Arroyo13. The colony thrived for several years, but it was
eventually decided that the homeland must be recovered. The Chosen One, his
friends John Cassidy, Vic, and some colonists went north with the second
G.E.C.K. When they arrived at the Arroyo Bridge, they were shocked. It had
been rebuilt! Cautiously, they crossed the bridge, but found the village still in
ruins. Even more curious now, they explored the Temple of Trials. There they
found their second big shock: It had become a Brotherhood of Steel outpost!
The Brotherhood refused to explain their intentions to anyone but the Chosen
One, who decided that the colonists and the knights could live peacefully
together. New Arroyo was founded using the second G.E.C.K. and the village
prospered. Full of their own comings and goings, Arroyo13 and New Arroyo
flourished for nearly two decades, unaware of a growing threat to their very
existence.
Ever since the Vault Dweller nearly destroyed his forces, the leader of the
Khans vowed revenge on his bloodline. When the Chosen One made several
more anti-Raider attacks, this vow was renewed with added fervor. The leader
started to gather followers, from all those who opposed the Vault Dweller
bloodline. This force continued to grow for many years, completely
overrunning the Den. The Brotherhood knights present there fled north, using a
Vertibird built with the plans given to them by the Chosen One, to a sacred
land the Chosen One had once described to them. Eventually the Raiders
spread to Klamath, so that they could have a foothold closer to New Arroyo.
Then one day, Cassidy ran out of supplies in his tavern.
Being out of booze is quite possibly the worst thing that can happen to the
owner of a tavern. So John Cassidy of The New Arroyo Tavern asked his old
chum to go out and get him supplies. His old chum then asked his child to go to
the Golden Gecko in Klamath to find supplies. That's were you come in. As
the Chosen One's offspring, it is your responsibility to retrieve these supplies.
You go to Klamath and to the Golden Gecko. While there, you overhear some
particulary drunk Raiders yelling about their boss's latest orders. Something
about a "Vault Dweller sucks this," and a "kill the damn kid," that. Somewhat
frightened, you grab your supplies and run back home as fast as your feet can
carry you. Our story starts with you notifying your father of these events. It is
decide that you are the only one capable of running out into the wastes to solve
this problem. The weight has come on your shoulders, and the only way to lift
it is to unite the wasteland communities against this terrible foe
