Home Up About Us More Family Photo Album Travels Holy Places What's New

I could drive around for hours looking at homes here.   Not only are the houses bigger here, but  architectural styles and materials from all over the world are used.

When it was time to design our own home, I had the excuse to drive around and take pictures!!   My friend Teresa endured such trips with me and can even take credit for several of the pictures.  But, please, since most of these pictures were taken literally on the run, don't criticize the photography.  I even scanned these at super speed, at a lower quality, with little attention paid to detail.  :)

Styles here are changing, with the biggest difference coming to gates that traditionally were above eye level (at least) and which surrounded the entire complex.   Also, a lot more detail is being put into the exterior than was done in the past.  Gardens are now flourishing and plants are a big part of finishing homes.

I hope  anyone with their home featured here will take this as a compliment :)

Stay tuned for pictures of Holy Places!

Here are some of my personal favorites:

Whole House (remember to click on any picture to see the home it it's full  glory!)

clsdbleside.JPG (27805 bytes)(I)    clspillars.JPG (33321 bytes) (II)

 modrosegrt.JPG (82501 bytes) (III)    peachbeach.JPG (24394 bytes) (IV)

(I) This house wasn't yet finished.  I found the double-sided feature interesting, though I wouldn't know which door to go to!

(II) More of a classical design.

(III)  I like the modern look of this house, especially the trimming used.

(IV) I took this picture a bit too early.  They've since put a beautiful gate around the property, which really adds to it's overall beauty.

2strygl.JPG (28856 bytes) (V)    adobe.JPG (21415 bytes) (VI)

(V) I love the two-story glass pane at the entrance. This house also has an underground garage (lower right-hand corner).

(VI) A taste of Mexico here in Kuwait.

angles.JPG (17835 bytes) (VII)    balconytrim.JPG (30855 bytes) (VIII)

I like the off set angles on this house, even though they could have placed the second story windows a bit better.

(VIII)  The balconies and matching gate trimming caught my eye.

brgreyside.JPG (31828 bytes) (IX)    brnltc.JPG (99438 bytes) (X)

(IX) This is the side view of a house with an interesting layout.

(X) This is the kind of lattice work we were initially interested in incorporating into our design.

bvllatc.JPG (17795 bytes) (XI)    frenchsd.JPG (27181 bytes) (XII)

(XI) Notice the beveled "sun-porch" area and, again, the lattice work.

(XII) This is the side view of a traditional french designed (HUGE) home.  The detailed work is amazing.

indiaflvr.JPG (40289 bytes) (XIII)    modrosegrt.JPG (82501 bytes) (XIV)

(XIII)  This is a a huge home with an Indian flavor.

(XIV) I like the modern feel, especially the metal trimming used.

modround.JPG (21359 bytes) (XV)    pinkSP.JPG (27519 bytes) (XVI)

(XV) Another modern home with a round window.

(XVI) I think the gate hasn't been finished yet but this is a whole lot of pink, Spanish style.

purpfrill.JPG (39340 bytes) (XVII)    rosefavfr.JPG (36436 bytes) (XVIII)

(XVII)  I think they were aiming for Victorian on this lavender frilly thing.

(XVIII) This is one of my all-time favorite homes.  I love the simplicity!

rosefavsd.JPG (28764 bytes) (XIX)    rosesigma.JPG (26859 bytes) (XX)

(XIX) This is a view of the side entrance to XVIII.  I love the low gate, which is a new concept in Kuwait.

twotone.JPG (21097 bytes) (XXI)    whtdblent.JPG (26814 bytes) (XXII)

(XXI) This is an impressive two-tone use of what we call "sigma" something comparable to stucco.

(XXII)  I don't actually like this one but it's an example of a double entrance.

whtslptile.JPG (32259 bytes) (XXIII)    Yporc.JPG (25628 bytes) (XXIV)

(XXIII) I love so much about this house.  Another big one.

(XXIV) Yellow porcelain was used to face this house.  I think they are going to actually use the roof, which I like.

peachy.JPG (26991 bytes) (XXV)

(XXV)  This peach beauty was my mom's favorite.  My mom asked for more pictures of homes.  I guess you got our wish, Mom!

I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to continue to my other architectural categories, but you do have a choice:
