Super Bowl
Welcome to the Super Bown Edition of Carp's
Kingdom. Media Day has passed and its almost time
for these two elite teams to lock horns and decide
who will be this year's champ.
Lets preview the game that every team tries to get
to, The DFL Super Bowl.
The San Francisco Great Whites (16-2) versus
The Dallas Desperadoes (18-0) - Even though
Janet Jackson was uninvited to be apart of the DFL
Halftime show, that won't take anything away from
the matchup we have this year. The last time Dallas
lost a game I was a freshman, in middle school. The
Desperadoes pretty much coasted through the regular
season only being tested in week 1 by OKC and week
12 where they put the league on notice that they are
for real beating Seattle in Seattle by a point.
They finshed the season as the top passing and
rushing team. Their Defense has been the 5th
hardest to rush against and the 3rd hardest to pass
against. In a word this team has been dominating.
Veteran QB Thad Busby is the top rated passer in the
league while HB Jon Avery ripped the rushing title
away from SC's Edgerrin James, rushing for over
2,000 yards. I think Dallas is just going to use
their own team plane for the pro bowl since pretty
much the whole team is going, thats how stacked this
team is. While Dallas is the Vegas favorite, lets
not overlook the powerhouse that is the San
Francisco Great Whites. This team has been pushing
people around this year, especially with their nasty
defense. San Fran was 1 of 3 teams this season who
had over 100 sacks, they also led the league in
safeties with 4. Individually for SF, DE Chike
Okeafor, DT Chris Hovan, and DE Montae Reagor had a
combined sack total that 18 teams in the DFL
couldn't even get. A key to victory for the Great
Whites will be getting into the Dallas backfield and
disrupting their efficient offense. On the other
side of things, San Fran will most likely look to
the pass to put points up on the boards. Their pass
game was rated higher than everyone but Dallas this
year, while the Great Whites had more passing yards
and more TDs through the air. QB Akili Smith will
look to hook up with the solid tandem of WR Coles
and TE Jim Kleinsasser. Even though boths teams
have a shut down type of defense, this actually
could be a wide open type game. With so much talent
on each offense along with these squads ranked 1 and
2 in total yards, we might see a shootout that every
TV exec dreams about having. San Fran is not a 6.5
point underdog like the Carolina Panthers were, but
they are the dogs in this one. It would not shock
me to see the Great Whites take the title, but I am
taking the team that just doesn't lose, the team
that reminds me of the NFL's Pats. Dallas takes it
in another DFL Super Bowl Classic.
