In the show, not much light was shed on Genki's past.
He is shown as an happy go lucky, care free person, but do we really know what happened in his past?
Genki seems to be more happier in an place where their is some evil guy trying to destory him and his friends, and the whole world, then he seems to be at home.
Sure, He says it because he loves monsters so much, but even if you did love monsters you would still miss your family, and your friends.
In the epidoe 'In the Rain.' Suzo comments on this. Genki get's a little sad for a moment and says
'Sure, I miss my family and friends, but I like it hear much more!' (or something close to that)
Genki strikes me as very faithful to his friends, and it doesn't really seem he'd be the type to dump any friends, but accroding to what he says hear, he doesn't really mind if he never sees his friends in his own world again, leaving me to think that maybe he has none...
And, he never really talks about his family, and we were only shown his mother, (or at least we assume it's his mom) for a few brief secondes. It doesn't seem like he has any younger siblings, because, if he did, his mother would not have just have made the 'sweet cakes' just for him. Does he have older siblings? A father?
Other family members were never mentioned, but there has to be a reason as to why he never talks about them.
Maybe his mother and him was abandoned? Maybe his father is always away at work? I mean, remember the episode with Jim, Genki sorts of begins to admire Jim, and it seems as if he starts to look up to him. Maybe Jim would have became a father figure if they had been together longer. Maybe Genki was already looking at him, kind of like a father figure, before they seperated. But why would he need a replacement father figure, if he had his own father at home? If he has one.
If he has an older sibling then, perhaps they aren't close, maybe they are away at collage or something? Because, if he only had an mother, he would have said.
'Sure I miss my mom and my friends.'
instead of.
'Sure, I miss my family and my friends.'
Not only that leaves me to think that Genki did not really have an happy home life, but when he returned back home in the last episode he cries
'I can't go on without my friends, I feel so empty inside!'
I think this proves that he feels like he has no one in his world. That he has no where to turn to. But maybe I am over thinking things.
But, how did Genki get the power to control energy like he can? How did he get in a disk? How come the anchients knew to send Moochi threw time to get Genki?
There are many questions left unawnsered, and we will probably never find them out, but I think one thing is for sure.
There is more to the boy with the clear eyes then what their first appears to be.
