Because of human activity, the chemical make-up of our atmosphere is changing. Carbon dioxide is a major contributor to the change. Though there is no proven fact of these gases causing earth's atmosphere to change, it is a proven fact that earth's temperatures are rising.

As the sun heats our planet, heat is radiated back up towards our atmosphere. Greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, (water vapor, carbon dioxide, and other gases) trap heat keeping temperatures warm, forming a "blanket" over the earth. Without this, no human life would be possible on earth. However, more and more greenhouse gases are in our atmosphere.

It is a fact that greenhouse gases have risen about 30% since the industrial revolution. Human activities, and combustion of fossil fuels are a major contributor to greenhouse gases. 98% of all carbon dioxide emissions, 24% of methane emissions, and about 20% of nitrous oxide emissions, are from the use of cars, trucks, heat use (for homes), and power factories
