ALEC'S CV TIPS

Here's a link to a brilliant site, on writing different kinds of CV!  (Note: as he points out, a few of the examples are also on the www.bradleycvs.co.uk site, where they display better.)

SMARTER WORK.COM

Here's a link to an excellent site for freelancers. Freelancers and clients can find each other, on the site - and they can even manage your transactions with clients in other countries, making sure you get your money!

MAGNOLIA TRANSLATIONS

Excellent on-line translations service, run by a husband-and-wife team, which keeps its costs down by not not having to use masses of office space.  Translations can be done from and into not only the main west and east European languages, but also may other languages from around the world.  There is regular quality-checking by native speakers.  The bureau gives practical support to charitable causes, such as Amnesty International.

PHONMAP

Jan Mulder has designed an absolutely brilliant little program, which enables you to type in phonetic symbols (for any language) and all the other signs, such as for stress, aspiration, link-up, intonation and so on.  It even does more things than he says it does!  The best way is to experiment with using the non-phonemic symbols - especially in conjunction with one another - to see what can be achieved.

TRIPOD SITE-BUILDER

If you don't feel up to using HTML, this site contains an excellent, easy-to-use "site-builder", to enable you to put up your own website!  (This site was built using it.)  Click on "BUILD & EDIT", then "SITE BUILDER" and register with your chosen URL username.

GloProm.com

Free submission of your website to the web, and lots of free website tools!

AddMe.com

Free submission of your website to the web, and lots of free website tools - including free tracking of traffic to your site!

THE GUARDIAN

Here's a link to Britain's only independent newspaper. It really questions and explores things - and has excellent feature articles.

BBC NEWS (FOR THE UK-BASED)

Here's a link to the BBC's news website.  (This is the best page to start from, if you're living in the UK.)

MY FAMILY HISTORY (Brulart de Sillery)!

This site explains everything about the Huguenot origins of my family, on my mother's side.

CRACOW - ENGLISH-LANGUAGE WEBSITE

Excellent English-language website for Cracow (which was, for a long time, Poland's capital).  It's extremely comprehensive and has lots of pictures.  Do visit it!

PSZCZYNA - "PEARL OF SILESIA"

Actually, "Pearl of Silesia" is overstating it - though it is certainly one of the "green lungs of Silesia"!  This is the small, historically very important town (Pless, in German) where I lived for nine years and where I still have a flat.  This is the link to the Tourist Information Office website: click on the "English" button, for the English-language version.  "Pictures" are listed in the top menu (which link takes you to a clickable gallery).  For more pictures, see below...

PSZCZYNA - MORE PICTURES

This is the Pszczyna Portal.  For lots more pictures of Pszczyna and the surrounding area, click on "Galeria", then - under the right-hand heading ("Wybierz galerię") - click on any/all of the headings, for galleries of clickable photos.
