Ford news again, I like that! The new Mustang Cobra is hotter than
ever! Last year we were all excited about the Cobra R very limited, yet
very powerful 385 HP - matted to a six speed trany - Folks at Ford called
it the best performing Mustang of all times. Well fast forward to
2002, the Cobra is now powered by a supercharged 4.6 producing 390 HP!!!
With a 6 speed trany, upgraded independent rear suspension, different air
intakes, in the hood, lower front fascia and sides. Thank you Ford!

Ford is producing the SVT Focus. It's 180 hp 2.0 Zetec engine, coupled
with
the 6 speed trany, upgraded wheels, tires, suspension, interior and exterior
styling will make it a hot seller- Ford shouldn't have any problems selling
the 2500 available for 2002. (Spring for Canada.)

Ford will be introducing the born-again GT40 as a show car in this
years show circuit. It will feature a powerful supercharged engine- probably
the 5.4. It features major design clues form the race winner GT40 of the
mid sixties! Make up 4 us please!

Mustang news, the current style will be available until 2004, but for
'03, SVT is planning to use a bunch of parts from the Cobra R, like the
6 speed tranny, suspension, brakes and other parts to produce a limited
production Mustang that should be powered by the 4.6 supercharged to produce
in excess of 400 hp, bring it on please! Power is never enough!

Lincon is introducing the Aviator, based on the Explorer, the styling
is of course based on the current Explorer, but with a more aggressive
front end, with vertical chrome grille, big air intake mid front bumper
and other finishing touches that distinguish it from it's siblings.

GM is showing in this years circuit the Caddilac Cien, powered by a
12 cyl featuring Displacement on Demand, a remake of the early GMs engines
with deactivation of cylinders. The V12 is said to produce 750 Hp. The
style of the Cien is very sharp and very edgy, almost resembling the Ford
new edge styling as seen it the GT90

Jaguar is showing this year the R-coupe, it show influence of the current
Jaguar family resemblence, with power bulges all over, no specs on the
engine, the front end sports quad lights a classic Jac grille.

Jaguar has done it. They took the Mondeo platform with the Ford ties
and turned it into the X-Type. One of the most exciting cars form the Jaguar
stable in years. It features a first for Jaguar - all wheel drive, the
engine is a V6 in 2.5 or a 3.0 of displacement, producing 194 hp
or 231 hp.

it produces the Marauder the high performance version of the Grand Marquis.

GM is showing a preview of the SSR a convertible truck that draws
heavy of the nostailgict movement. It features design clues such as round
headlights, 34 Ford style grille, huge roundish fenders. Its production
is planed for late 2002.
GM is introducing the new Hummer the H2 a more people friendly version
of the mighty all-terrain vehicle. It will be a 2003 model, but early versions
should be arriving out later this year! It's powered by the Vortec 6000
V8 matted to a 4 speed automatic transmission producing 340 HP/360 lb-ft.
It's rumored that the 8100 and possible 6600 Diesel engines could be optional.

Ford is introducing the Escape hybrid-electric SUV. It's called the
Escape HEV, some of the features include regenerative braking, a 4 cyl
and electric motor. Gas mileage is 40 mpg and 500 km per tank! Acceleration
is expected to be like the V6 counter part. Availability is early 2003.

Still in the wonderful world of the Focus, North
America will see a 4 door version of the hatchback body style. It will
be based on the European version, which is by the way the most sold body
style over the Atlantic. It will be called ZX5!

Ford SVT is introducing the SVT Focus, it will be powered by the famed
Zetec engine a 2.0 Litre, but in this version it will be producing 170
HP. It will have rear disks brakes, different front, back and side treatments,
a six speed transmition, upgraded interior and more!

Cadillac's Division of GM will be joining Saab in Europe, with the
hopes of an increase in sales. As present Cadillac is sold in Europe by
Open and Vauxhall, brands that spell out economy, performance, but not
really par with the exectutive/luxury brand.

Mazda is introducing two very intresting cars, the RX-8, as seen in
the Detroit Auto Show - a 4 door sporty coupe with familiar Miata looks,
it has performance to spare. It should be available late next year. The
other Mazda to make note is the MX sport tourer, it looks like a cross
between a wagon and an older Honda Civic. It is rummored to be a hybrid
car, powered by a gas engine, as well as an electric motor.

Subaru is introducing Impreza WRX in 2002, yes you've heard that name
before, it's the rally winning version that never made it here! Well for
2002 it will debut here. The power plant (a 2.0 litre) produces 227 Hp
and 217 pounds of torque! Performance 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. Need I say anything
else? When can I get mine?

Nissan is also introducing a racy version of the SE-R, it is based
on the Sentra sedan power cames in the form of a 2.5 four, producing 180
HP in the Spec V version.
Jaguar is introducing the Jag X type. It's main competition will be
the Mercedes C, and pricier Audis and BMW's. It will be powered by a V6
engine. It's main concern is to be comfortable, stable, stylish and of
course expensive! It's expected arrival in this shores, should be fall
of 2001.

2003 should be bringing us two new very interesting cars, the new Viper,
it looks awesome, still Viperish but a lot more aggressive styling! The
other interesting car is the return of the Austin Mini. Looking decisively
modern, but still cool and of course - small!

Chevrolet is introducing the Corvette Z06, a rocket powered by the
LS6 a 5.7 Liter V8. It's ratted at 385 HP (same as the Cobra R's 5.4).
It's an overall more macho Vette with a revised 6 speed trans. Lighter
weigh at only 1415 Kgs, better suspension components and bigger tires,
you get the picture. At about $68,000, it's a good deal! 0-60 mph Performance
is in the 4.5 range, not too bad!!!

Ford is showing the Blackhawk, a derived from the Crown Victoria, powered
by the 4.6 Liter V8. It's ratted at 270 HP. It's more macho Vicy, a combination
of a Impala + Buick Grand National with a C Victoria! The big power is
combined with revised suspension and bigger tires with nice looking wheels
(18 inch). It has a great presence!

makes the Viper look brutish and square. It has a design that rivals the
Italian designs of Ferrari and Lamborgini. Power is a combination of American

Ford is introducing the FR200 a modified Focus ZX3. Mods include a
turbocharged, intercooled, 2.0 liter Zetec four cylinder rated at 304 hp,
285 lbs. ft. Other mods includes bigger tires, limited slip traction control
and more. The body is modified and looks great, a large spoiler decks the
rear and the lights are lower like the coupes.

Aston Martin now owned by Ford Mo. Co. is putting out a V12 screamer!
It is called Vanquish, powered by a 6.0 V12, 6 speed - controlled by pods
on the streering wheel (ala Ferrari). The car will be hand built, on a
limited quantity of course. The price if you must ask is about $300 000.
It will be available in the States (another showoff for Ford!)

Jaguar is introducing the XKR - Silverstone, yes just like the famous
race track in England. It is powered by DOHC V8 producing 370 Hp. The color
Silver of course! This is one of those rare instances that special European
cars actually will be available in North America. Maybe Ford wants to show
it off! I say let them!

Audi is also stepping *(not a spelling mistake) up to the SUV's. After
the market test of the Audi 4X4 station wagon, now a full fledged off road
vehicle is in the process. The European name *Steppenwolf, which in North
American will be changed to Coyote. It is powered by a V6 producing 225

Saturn is upgrading it's car line up with a SUV, name has yet to be
announced, it has a strong family resemblance. It's powered by two planned
power plants: a 4 cyl and a V6. Direct competition will be the Escape,
Xterra, etc. It should be hitting the no pressure dealerships in 2002.

Toyota Prius is finally available in North America, it's a hybrid car.
The engines are a combination of an electrical engine and a 1.5L DOHC,
producing a very minimal amount of harmful contaminants, Pricing is about
$29 000.

Ford is producing the TH!NK, the car showed at the International show
circuits.
It's made of all recyclable materials, powered by an electrical motor,
giving it the performance of a small gasoline car. It's produced
and sold in Malaysia. The first car has been delivered to Canada this week,
full producing for the North American markets should be following suit
within a couple of years.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is coming. Upgrades include a new improved 5.7
now putting out 385 with a redline of 6500 rpm,
titanium mufflers, wider tires,. Like the Cobra R
the Z06 will be the highest performance production
Corvette ever built. Performance figures are: 0-100 kms of 4.0 seconds
and a 1/4 mile time of 12.6 seconds.
Price should be about $70000 Cd.

More on the Ford '02 Thunderbird it will be powered by the 3.9 V8 engine
as in the Lincon LS. It is supposed to have more than 260 HP. Some people
say it should be close to 300. We hope so!

in 2001 as a '02 model. Ford started a summer tour going through the US

Mazda Tribute a new SUV is coming to the market in a couple of months.
It's a joint development with Ford, the Ford model is called Escape, is
debuting a bit later! They share the platform and engines, but have different
styles of course.
Both the Escape and Tribute are based on the 2.0 engine rated at 130
hp, the optional 3.0 producing 200 hp. Five speed is standard. As opposed
to bigger SUVs this ones are economical, ridding normally as a front wheel
drive, until they loose traction, then transfers to all wheel drive. (as

As reported earlier the Harley F-150 Ford Truck have started production
in the Oakville Plant. Planed production number is 7500 units. Power comes
in the form of a 5.4 V8 producing 260 Hp!

A new Porsche 911 Turbo is coming, need I say any more!! Of course!
It's beautiful, one of the few cars I would trade my Mustangs for! The
2001 Turbo is just awesome, the styling, performance, confront and even
believe it or not driver friendliness. The twin turbo's 3.6, 6 cyl Boxer
engine produces 420 Hp and 413 lp of torque! All that and the fact that
you'll be driving one of the fastest cars in the world costs about $160
000. The stove, fridge & other utilities are not included!
There's a new Beetle prototype, It's called RSi, It's the sports Beetle,
poor man (well???) version of a Porche. It is powered by a V6 3.2L producing
225 HP. Big spoiler, massive wheels, a modified exhaust, you get the picture!

There's a new Beetle prototype ( I said that before!!), it's the Dune.
Yes an off road vehicle. It's based on the current model, but changed,
off course. It's modifications include style changes like a soft top roof
like some old Beetle styles, mechanic mod's include 4X4, variable ride
height, massive 18" tires, the engine is called VR5 - a V5, believe it
or not, 2 cyl on one side and 3 in the other, produces 150 hp.

The 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R is out. Only 300 to be built by SVT.
Features include a 5.4 L V8 with 385 hp. (other sources say it's more like
400). Ford sources say it is the fastest, best handling Mustang of all
times. The engine includes a special flywheel, modified intake, the exhaust
features a special Bassani X pipe with side exit pipes. Finally a tremec
six speed manual transmission and 18 inch wheels. It's top speed - 170
MPH or 273 km/h.

Rover/MG could be purchased by MG Cars (a British Co.), but due to
uncertainties, including union pressure, the sale of the companies has

BMW is planning the introduction of a new performance car called Z8
in late 2000, it will include a V8 engine currently in production on top
of the line BMW's, power will be around the 400 Hp. The car is an all aluminum
body hand formed and assembled, as well as an all aluminum 5.0 engine (
there we go with 5.0!). It will be a very limited production under 200
for North America! Better hurry up if you have about $150 US to spend!

DaimlerChrysler Necar 4 fuel cell vehicle is in operation In a Munich
airport. It's a zero emission automobile fueled by hydrogen, which produces
a chemical reaction used to power it's electric motor. It's only emission
is water! The car is based on the Mercedes Benz A class and it capable
of a top speed of 145 Km/h and can drive for about 450 Kms.

The New Beetle is now becoming a serious racer. So much so, that it's
the new car for the stock races for the F1 drivers to race against each
