Even European counterfeit sellers have no shame; The infamous glass-top. What's even more amazing is that this auction has received 16 bids thus far.

tigersunny69 has a couple of counterfeit auctions. The first is a box of Partagas 898's that has both the Habanos sticker and the green warranty seal. Authentic Partagas 898's do not have either sticker applied to the varnished box. The other is a counterfeit box of Romeo y Julieta Cedros #3 that shows the green warranty seal on the wrong side of the box.

I not knocking any country, but recently there is a rash of counterfeit sellers from Canada dominating eBay recently. Here's another guy selling some blatant counterfeits.

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: art_boyz

It seems like there are a rash of counterfeit sellers out of Canada lately. Since Candian citizens can legally visit and bring back Cuban cigars you would think that you would see more authentic Cuban cigars being sold. However, many Canadian citizens travel to Cuba on vacation and then bring back a couple of fake counterfeit boxes (mostly Cohibas, since they can make more money) to sell to help offset their vacation costs. All one has to do is purchase two boxes of Cohiba Esplendidos on the streets of Cuba for US$80 and then sell both of them for US$900. That's a profit of US$810.

Not only are both warranty seals incorrectly placed on both of art_boyz's auctions, the warranty seal on the Cohiba Robustos should be on the top left corner, and the white Habanos sticker (which has also been placed upside down) should be on the bottom right corner.

On Apr-16-02 at 11:35:09 PDT, seller added the following information:
I'VE BEEN GETTING EMAILS FROM BIDDERS ASKING ME IF THIS IS THE REAL THING. THIS BOX WAS
NOT BOUGHT ON THE STREET, ITS FACTORY SEALED AND WAS SOLD ON THE STREET, IAM CUBAN I KNOW HOW THE REAL THING LOOKS LIKE, SMELLS LIKE AND TASTES LIKE. IF YOU WANT TO TRUST A CANADIAN CITIZEN THAT WENT TO CUBA AND BOUGHT IT THERE THATS UP TO YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS EMAIL ME AND I WILL TELL YOU MORE IN DETAIL WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. GOOD LUCK!

Is this guy confusing? Or, is it just me? Not bought on the street, but it was sold on the street? Yeah, this guy may be Cuban, but that doesn't mean he is trying to sell you authentic Cohiba Esplendidos. To us, that just means that he has easy access to US$40 counterfeits and can sell there here in the states for US$400+.

On Apr-15-02 at 18:36:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
I WANT TO MAKE A CORRECTION, MY SEAL IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BOX NOT THE RIGHT SO THIS IS THE REAL THING. THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE SOMEONE ELSE'S PICS. ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX IT SAYS THE FOLLOWING: HABANO, HECHO EN CUBA, TOTALMENTE A MANO. AND IT HAS A STAMP WITH LR00.

That's funny. He admits to stealing someone elses auction pictures and then sticks his foot further up his a@#$ by telling you that his warranty seal is on the left side, not the right. All authentic Cohiba Esplendidos have their warranty seal on the right side.

------------------------------------------------------------

No, watsdamatawitchu! Here's a counterfeit box of Cohiba Esplendidos up for auction. Check out that new warranty seal with the washed out red lettering. You know, we have seen more auctions for Cuban cigars from people living in Florida than any other state, and we are still waiting to see the first auction with authentic Cuban cigars.

Did you know what watsdamatawitchu, has a brother in Canada named auroradave. See anything familiar???

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: vpofkuba

vpofkuba has an auction on eBay for a box of Montecristo No. 2's. This is his actual description on the auction, "You are bidding on a box of unopened Montecristo No 2 cigars. Please NOTE: 1.The value of the auctioned item is in the collectable packaging, not in the tobacco itself. the box has not been opened, but that the tobacco within is NOT for consumption. 2. You cannot buy this box in stores. In the stores the package will have the Havana house seals and/or the Canadian Duty paid stamp 3. the buyer of these collectable MUST BE at least 18 years of age. 4. Please before biding check all of your applicable laws and shipping regulations in carrying out the transaction. Shipping will be $10.00 by mail or $25.00 by Fed ex. I accept Money Orders, Cash and Pay Pal. Please e-mail if you have any other questions."

A lot of these guys put such a description since they are not allowed to sell cigars on eBay, thus making the auction seem like it is for a collectible item. However, in actuality, the description of his auction is ironically 100% accurate. Below are the pictures from his auction and ones that I asked him to email me. While they are very blurry you can still make out that it has a new warranty seal, which first appeared in 1999, but employs the old factory code, NIVELACUSO, which ended in 1998.

The auction ended with seven total bids with the highest bid being US$227.50. The unlucky winner is r.e.man (103).

Oh, tony2short is definitely short on one thing - brains. Just when we thought we had seen the last of them, some genius always has to surprise us and come up with another one of these glass-top Cohiba Esplendidos. Let's see if anyone actually places a bid on this one.

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: Maurotrade/Maroulin

Update: maurolin May 2, 2002 (1)
Maroulin is back with the same old stuff, still counterfeit. Here is the same auction for a counterfeit leather humidor of Montecristos.

------------------------------------------------------------

Featured on our original site Maroulin seems to have changed his name to Maurotrade, but his cigars remain the same - counterfeits. This rip off artist has several auctions on and one on eBay - do not bid on these items - they are blatant counterfeits. Cohiba, nor Montecristo, have never been produced in such packaging. Yahoo auctions here and his eBay auctions here. Below are some of his counterfeit pictures:
