Hertford Company of Archers (HCA) is an established
and thriving archery club based just outside Hertford, at The Butts, Meadow Lane, Hertford Heath (beside Haileybury College).
We are members of GNAS our National body and abide by their rules and recommendations. We are delighted to hold on your behalf,
Archery Parties, for children or adults at our field. We charge £10 per head up to a maximum of
12 individuals for 2 hours shooting. Cheques should be made payable to 'Hertford Company of Archers' and will need to have
cleared at least 2 weeks prior to the event which will include a 25% non-refundable deposit. This is a requirement of our
Public Liability Insurance policy so payment on the day will not be acceptable. Format This can either be a 10 minute briefing with
1.45hrs shooting or a 10 minute briefing with a 1hr shoot and a ½ hour competition. Cancellation In the event of cancellation at less than
48 hours prior to the agreed date, the monies will be kept by HCA in their entirety, unless cancelled by The Club for safety
reasons, in which instance all monies will be refunded in full. All our coaches are CRB'd and a copy of our
policy can be made available on request. Children under 14 must be supervised with a recommended 1 adult to 3 children ratio.
The host parents must provide this number of adults to supervise the children in order for HCA coaches/members to focus on
the archery. Adult groups wishing to hold a party will
have one HCA Coach/experienced archer per 3 adults. Those wishing to hold an archery party will
be asked for 3 dates/times with their preferred date/time highlighted. Subject to these not clashing with club days/events
we will do our best to accommodate such requests. The bbq and gas will be made available, for
a fee of £10. You must bring your own food which you will cook yourselves. HCA will not be responsible for any catering arrangements. SAFETY IS OUR PRIME CONCERN. STRICT DISIPLINE
MUST BE OBSERVED. You will be provided with lightweight beginner
bows and arrows and instructed in their use. Shooting will be on a one to one basis with a coach or experienced archer. Targets will typically be 10 yards from the
shooting line All archers must obey the Field Captain's
whistle. Failure to do so could endanger someone else and will mean you are asked to leave the shooting line. Always check
that the area is clear before and during shooting. A clear signal will be given to indicate it is safe to shoot immediately
prior to arrows being shot. A second signal should also be given to indicate that shooting should be brought to a halt either
for the collection of arrows or for safety reasons. Field Captain's commands must be obeyed in
order to meet the terms of our insurance. You will be fully briefed on the use of your
equipment, fire exits, availability of first aid etc.
