HQi's Soft Bait Applicator..

With peeler crab prices hitting an all time high, why throw your bait away with poor presentation and masked hooks, leading to either no bites or worse still, missed bites. Now with our soft bait applicator, you can bait up in a fraction of the time you normally take, with a presentable bait each and every time.

Why stop at peeler crab?? With you're soft bait applicator, you can use mussels, queen cockles in fact any mollusk (Shellfish)  that is excellent as bait, but not previously possible to cast great distances without the hassle of a 10 minute baiting session.

HQi's soft bait applicator even takes the hassle out of cocktail type baits, mix and match, with only your imagination to limit you.

Instructions for making your own as follows:

1. Cut a 4 inch (100mm) length of round dowel (Broom handle will do nicely)

2. Cut a slit from the center of one end, tapering to the outside of the opposite end. (Line will be held in the slit)

3. Enlarge slit at center end slightly (Large enough to take the hook eye)

4. Next drill 3 holes the same size as 18gauge wire, starting at the bottom of the dowel below the center slit, next 2 holes go level with the center of the dowel each side.

5. cut 3 lengths of stainless 18 gauge wire, approximately 5 inch(125mm) long.

6. glue each length of stainless into each hole.

7. leave for the glue to set.

Instructions for use:

1. hook the bait as per normal

2. Lay the line in the slit, with the hook eye pulled tight in the enlarged hole of the slit

3. You should now have the bait and hook supported by the 3 wire prongs.

4. Starting at the eye end, wrap knit  in elastic around the bait, taking care to make sure that the hook point is not masked.

5. slide baited hook of the prongs, by gripping the prongs near the dowel, whole lot will slide easily off, firmly held by the elastic.

6. After a bit of practice, you will find it only takes a few seconds to wrap any bait perfectly every time.
