A Prometheus-Class Vessel

The USS Maverick is a Prometheus-class warship designed during the Dominion War but not deployed during that war. The Maverick was designed for deep space tactical assignments and employs systems which are at the cutting edge of Federation technology. Prometheus-class ships like the Maverick share the same basic design as other large Starfleet vessels, with two main hull sections and warp nacelles that are supported by outriggers. The ship has a stretched diamond shaped saucer section and like Constellation class ships, is equipped with four warp nacelles.
The Maverick, and its sister Prometheus-class ships are the fastest ships in Starfleet. They can sustain a stable cruising velocity of warp 9.9. They have particularly advanced tactical systems, and are equipped with standard phasers and torpedoes, plus regenerative shielding and ablative armor.
Most significantly, the Prometheus-class ships are capable of Multi-Vector Assault: the ship is actually made up of three distinct modules, each of which is heavily armed. In the Multi-Vector Assault Mode, these modules separate and attack their target. This makes Prometheus-class ships formidable weapons.
