In May 2004, Josh, Calla and I went on the trip of all trips: a 3-week tour of Europe. The whirlwind visit began in Paris where we spent 2.5 days. Highlights include the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, Hotel des Invalides as well as the Jardins des Tuileries, and Luxembourg gardens. We then rented a car and drove southwest to the Dijon region of France, where we stayed with gracious hosts Claude and Daniel in their lovely B&B in the tiny village of Chaudenay le Chateau, nestled at the foot of reputedly the oldest castle in the Dijon area, dating back to the 11th century. From there, we drove to Geneva where we stayed with my brother and his family for a few days before we all drove east to the Ticino region of Switzerland where we rented an old stone villa in the picturesque alpine town of Lavertezzo in Val Verzasca, famous for its medieval bridge and wonderful hiking trails along its sparkling clear river. Then, Josh and I headed south to Italy and the magnificent 11th century Castello di Tornano near Gaiole in Chianti from where we explored Tuscany for a few days before we continued further south to Rome for 2 nights, and then drove back up Italy's western coast to Geneva. In March 2003, the family visited Joshua Tree National Park outside of Palm Springs, CA. Words cannot describe the breathtaking scenery there. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Don't forget to double-click on any of the images for larger versions. In March 2001, to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, Josh and I took a trip to Hawaii. We spent a few days on Oahu and then flew to Kauai for a week. Below are some photos from our time there. In April 2000, Josh and I took a camping trip to Yosemite National Park. Here are some photos from our stay there. Over the winter holidays 2000, our friends, Saul and Wendi, invited us up to their chalet near Lake Tahoe for our first taste of winter and snow since moving out to California. |
