During the summer of 1999 while reading a Greene County Adult Education booklet, John found an ad for "Modern Western Square Dancing". John convinced his wife Malinda that it would be fun and the two of them signed up to take classes with the Shooting Stars Square Dance Club in Fairborn, Ohio. Classes began in September of 1999 with Eldon Lovingshimer as caller and teacher. In December the same year, John attended his first high/low dance. Class had been fun, but after the dance, he was hooked. John and Malinda graduated in May of 2000. John wasted no time in starting his calling career. He attended the Midwest Callers School with Dick Duckham and Don Taylor in June, 2000, just one month after completing plus classes. Since that time John has attended calling school taught by Gene Record, Jerry Junck, and Sam Dunn & John Chevalier.
John has currently finished teaching the 2001/2002 lesson classes for the Shooting Stars Square Dance Club . Anyone interested in lessons, just drop him a e-mail.
John has been the Vice President of the Miami Valley Caller's Association.
John is available to call Basic, Mainstream, and Plus dances throughout the Miami Valley and surrounding areas and able to travel for weekend dances.
