Searching for HUSK, FUGITT, CAIN, KUSEK, and KENDZIERSKI family members.

Welcome to the home page for John Husk and Laura Kusek Husk.  Help us in our genealogy search to find Husk, Fugitt, Cain, Kusek, and Kendzierski family members.  We reside in Sterling Heights, Michigan with our three daughters. The primary reason for establishing this page was to provide a place to post our Family Trees.  Click on the "Learn About Us" page to learn about our heritage and to view our Family Trees.  We are always looking for more relatives to add to the Husk, Fugitt, Cain, Kusek, & Kendzierski Family Trees.  Thanks, John W. Husk

I always thought things like these were hoaxes.  Then I received a letter from the company asking us to visit this web site and click on donate food because they are a sponsor.  Large companies tend not to get sucked into hoaxes so I thought I would add a link to my home page so that others might also donate.

Here is a copy of the E-mail I received at work.

Giving back to the communities where we do business is a core company value. We believe supporting communities where we live and work is the best way to show our employees, our customers, our suppliers, and our neighbors that we care about them, their families, and their future. In 1999, The "See the possibilities" Fund was created to support initiatives that focus on meeting the needs of children - a key ingredient to shaping the future of our global community.

As part of its global outreach, we will sponsor donations to America's Second Harvest via The Hunger Site this week, December 4 - 8. This is the world's first "click-to-donate" site where 88 million visitors have donated more than 10,000 metric tons of free food to help feed the hungry. Second Harvest is the United States' largest domestic hunger relief organization, distributing food to 26 million hungry Americans each year, nearly a third of whom are children.

As a leader in developing innovative technology that benefits customers throughout the world, we applaud the efforts of The Hunger Site and its unique use of the Internet to activate donations that will help children. Sponsorship of The Hunger Site is an ideal vehicle for us; the global reach of our corporate citizenship reflects the global scope of our business. The timing of the partnership with The Hunger Site is significant, as the North American Supplier Conference occurs this week. This will give our customers and suppliers an opportunity to donate food to the hungry and view our innovative technology.

COMMON QUESTIONS

How does this work?

Q. What is The Hunger Site?
A. The Hunger Site is the world's first "click-to-donate" site. It gives Internet users the ability to quickly make a difference in the fight to end hunger. Daily, in less than 5 seconds, a visitor can click on the "donate free food" button and send food to the hungry in countries like Bosnia, Lebanon, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Honduras, Mozambique, Eritrea and the United States - anywhere there's a need. To date, more than 101 million visitors have donated more than 11,000 metric tons of food (almost 200 million cups of food). The donations of staple food are paid for by The Hunger Site sponsors and distributed by America's Second Harvest and Mercy Corps. Its grassroots popularity has been recognized with prestigious Web awards in the activism category -- the 2000 Cool Site of the Year Award and the People's Voice winner at the 2000 Webby Awards.

Q. Why was the site founded? Who came up with the idea?
A. A private citizen in Indiana founded the site in June of 1999. His goal was to use the powerful reach of the Internet to do something good for the world. By its fourth month, it was already receiving more than 1 million visitors per month. This phenomenal success quickly became too much for him to manage. He approached GreaterGood.com, an early and consistent sponsor, to take the site over. In February 2000, GreaterGood.com assumed ownership of The Hunger Site.

Q. What happens when I click on the "Donate Free Food" button? Does the donation cost me anything?
A. When you click on the "Donate Free Food" button, our computer server registers your daily donation. The computer adds your donation to the day's totals and sends you to the Thank You page where the names of the sponsors who have paid for your donation are displayed. There is absolutely no charge to you for the donation; it is fully paid for by the sponsors.

Approximately 24,000 people die each day from hunger or hunger-related causes. That translates into one person dying every 3.6 seconds -- 74% of which are children. The majority of hunger-related deaths are caused by chronic malnutrition. An estimated 800 million individuals -- children, mothers, fathers, grandparents -- simply cannot get enough to eat. Everyday The Hunger Site makes a difference. We anticipate generating over 2.5 million cups of food each week for the world's hungry.
