Squadron Overview

The McMinnville Composite Squadron had it's first meeting October 4, 1986.  The five charter members of of our squadron were: Alva Lee, Les Peterson, Joe Swetz, David Swetz, and Keith Fritz.

We initially began as a flight of the Washington County Composite Squadron; they provided training to our charter members and helped us get on our way.  After our first year as a flight, we officially became a squadron September 19, 1987.

Our first squadron commander was Major Al Lee. He was Commander for about two years. Our next Squadron Commander was Major Rick Mills. He commanded the squadron until 1991 when then Captain, now Lt Col Les Peterson took over the reins as commander. Col. Peterson commanded the squadron until January 2004 when his nephew, Captain David Peterson, took over.

Over the years we have had roughly 200 cadet members and about 40 senior members in our squadron.
