Make your mark!

words words

This sucker serves as a bit of a random-stats page. I'll be doing a more cohesive version of this approach for Musical Graffiti soon enough, as opposed to a 'regular' review.

Brand-new (to me anyhow) band highlights : Boy and Marianas Trench

Familiar band highlight : John Ford and Nasty On

Band-related lowlight : All the ones I missed! Especially Hotwire, GG Dartray, and Gabezra and the Way Out

General lowlight : The horrible scheduling mishaps on Day 3 that got me so frustrated as to actually throw my camera bag to the ground and announce my resignation from the festival

Most crowded venue : Piccadilly Pub, all three nights

Most missed venue from years past : The Starfish Room, which is now a big hole in the ground

Best rock haircuts : Hot Hot Heat

Most often-run-into individual : Adam from Peppersands

Most prevalent individual at a single club : Jayson from the Spitfires at the Royal on Day 3

Most often-run-into individual while working/playing : Jay the tech, who worked at probably half a dozen shows I went to, and Stephen from boy, who was always either playing or doing something gear-related when I saw him

Most often-run-into band : The Rye Catchers, who were always headed in the opposite direction

Best tasting meal : Tim Horton's sandwich at 5 on the Sunday morning

Best tasting drink : toss-up between my only highball of the weekend at Luv Affair, and the glasses of water keeping me hydrated on Day 2.

Quickest loss of a business card : Mik from Crystal Pistol, who managed to hang onto mine for about five minutes

Personal damage : Beer spills (twice!) and a horribly ripped up finger from my camera bag

Most challenging venue to shoot : Pic Pub re:heavy crowds

Most pleasant venue to shoot : Surprisingly, Miss T's, and unsurprisingly, Richard's.

Tallest band : Retrograde

Most yelling : Three Inches of Blood

Unique instrument : Hinterland's flute

Grossest sight : Moneen's guitarist showing of the mucus glob on his wrist

Longest stopover : The Royal on night three, where I landed after giving up on everything else. I logged a few hours there

Longest stopover for one act only : The Media Club on Day 1 for Tom Hooper

Quickest cross-town dash : Fifteen minutes, including a stop-in at the Marine Club, from Luv Affair to Miss T's.

Longest walk : Trekking uphill from Alma to 24th after missing the *right* bus home on Day 1.

Most calming set : Sunlike Star's acoustic wrap show

Most energizing set : John Ford

Earliest beer after waking up : The freebie at the chili cookoff around noon

Longest night : One would think it would be the night of the wrap party, but in fact, the awards day ended up being longer. I rolled in the door at 8 am.

Most amusing sight : On that note, seeing a hotel room full of people in hotel-issue white terrycloth robes after the awards show was pretty awesome

Best dress code : Waking Eyes, decked out in suits

Best make-up job : Citizen A from Peppersands

Most flamboyant individual : Mik from Crystal Pistol

Place to be - Day 1 : Luv Affair

Place to be - Day 2 : The Pic or the Penthouse (if you could get in)

Place to be - Day 3 : The Royal and the Afterparty

This list will be added to from time to time, and as earlier stated, there will be something similar on Musical Graffiti, which I will also post here.
