Custom built from scratch, including the building, by owner operator
Alan Absalom. Westports first brewery since Morleys was closed down by
Dominion Breweries in 1969. The building has an early century facade to
highlight the era of the miners. Alan and Jo Absalom have majority shareholding
with 4 other investors. The Brewery was custom built with New Zealand technology
and craftsmen and opened in September 1993.
Miners Draught - 4% full malt flavour with nice bitter
hop flavour.
Miners Dark - 4% rounded roast malt flavour balanced with
aromatic hops.
Miners Gold - 5% hoppy lager with very interesting flavour
characteristics.
Miners Brewery brews only all malt beers with no added sugar, food
colourings or preservatives. the Brewery has a capacity of 10,000 litres
per week. The beer is sold in about 40 outlets and also has tours and rigger
sales from the Brewery.
Miners have entered their beers in the Australian Interneational
Beer Awards twice and have a 100% record in all beers attaining medals!
The current Brewer is Dean Lanplough who has been brewing for Miners
for over two years.
