PETE WILLIS


Seems that history (and popular belief) tends to try and sweep Pete under the carpet. Pete was the catalyst that sparked the over the top banzi screaming blitzkrieg that is displayed on the first 2 albums. Lest we forget it was HE who started the band (as Atomic Mass with bassist Rick Savage back in 1977)

#1   IT'S ALL MUTT LANGES FAULT
He's ground zero when it comes to the candyass approach that ate away at the once mighty Lep. He may have  produced the brilliant HIGH 'n' DRY, but this has proved to only been a ploy to lull the once killer Def Lep into a false sense of security.  It was all down hill from there........
#2  THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK
Dismissing Pete on the grounds of alcohol is pretty lame considering what happened in the ensuing years of the band.  Instead of kicking him out, the whole band should have dried out. Total shame breaking up the original band... (BASTARDS!)
#3   MTV (bad evil satanic MTV.........................)
The root of the rot can be traced back to the single most 'this just plain aint right' thing to ever happen to music, MTV. The advent of the 'savior of the music industry' just shifted the whole concept of whats important in music.  We get to thank the good people of MTV for bringing us a slew of pretty boys who couldnt write a real song if their poodle depended on it. And they also turned real rock bands into drek. (Money&Fame, for just the price of your integrity and soul)

WHEN ALL'S SAID AND DONE, DEF LEPPARD HAVE  BECOME WHAT THEY PROBABLY NEVER DREAMED THEY'D END UP AS.  FROM HOWLING ROCKERS TO MELLOWED OUT BALLAD BOYS.  A PETE-LESS LEPPARD IS A RATHER TEPID AND EMBARRASSING AFFAIR.

I GUESS ONE SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT A PETE WILLIS LEPPARD EVER EXISTED, BUT I'D RATHER CALL BULLSHIT ON THE DRIVEL BEING PASSED OFF AS DEF LEPPARD THESE DAYS.....PETE RULES (!)
