Sex offender nabbed at ASU

May. 14, 2005 12:00 AM

A convicted sex offender eight days into his parole was caught recently looking at child pornography on an Arizona State University library computer, according to police.

A staff member at Hayden Library called campus police Sunday afternoon after spotting 30-year-old Paul Daniel Somers scrolling through pornographic Web pages, university officials confirmed Thursday. He is not affiliated with the school.

ASU Department of Public Safety officers saw him trying to close out open screens, said ASU spokesman Manny Romero. Police seized the computer and took Somers into custody. He was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail for 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
