Well the 2009 Young bird season is in the books, a few months ago
actually. Our two Rookies gave us a little schooling in YB racing this season
lapping the competition and beating us into submission. All I can say is enjoy
it while you can, because as Admiral Yamamoto said in one of my favorite movies
Tora Tora Tora I fear all we
have done is awaken a sleeping giant. I have a feeling some of the older
members will have something for you so get em ready. Anyway on to the Accolades.
It was a short season because of the over abundance of rain the past
year, Thank the Lord, it was also a very tough series flying across the Smoky
Mountains. We flew 10 races and the
two rookies won 9 of them. Billy Johnson won 6 of the 10 races doubling up on
weeks 1 and 3. Danny Gossnell took 3 of the reaming 4
doubling up on week 4. Frank McDonough won the remaining race. Billy also won
both Combine race on week 3, Danny won 1 combine race week 4 and Frank won a
combine race week 2.
Danny took most of the Yearly awards.
