Well the 2009 Young bird season is in the books, a few months ago
actually. Our two Rookies gave us a little schooling in YB racing this season
lapping the competition and beating us into submission. All I can say is enjoy
it while you can, because as Admiral Yamamoto said in one of my favorite movies
Tora Tora Tora I fear all we
have done is awaken a sleeping giant. I have a feeling some of the older
members will have something for you so get em ready. Anyway on to the Accolades.
It was a short season because of the over abundance of rain the past
year, Thank the Lord, it was also a very tough series flying across the Smoky
Mountains. We flew 10 races and the
two rookies won 9 of them. Billy Johnson won 6 of the 10 races doubling up on
weeks 1 and 3. Danny Gossnell took 3 of the reaming 4
doubling up on week 4. Frank McDonough won the remaining race. Billy also won
both Combine race on week 3, Danny won 1 combine race week 4 and Frank won a
combine race week 2.
Danny took most of the Yearly awards.
Average speed A B Overall in
the Club and the Combine.
Champion Loft
A B and Overall in the Club and B races in the Combine.
Master Loft B races in the Club.
His Red Check Cock bird AU 09 SCO 9612 took Champion Bird Honors
scoring in 4 of the 5 races entered in the Club as well as Champion Bird of the
Combine. Scoring in 3 of the 5 races entered in the Combine.
Billy won
Master Loft Overall for the club.
Frank won
Master Loft A races for the Club and in the Combine.
The Club also hosted the Dixie Southern Convention during and were busy handling young birds for the convention race, but
thats a whole nother story.
Keep up the good work Rookies get them ready for OBs and keep an eye
over your shoulders.
