6 Gig seem to come from the same emo-core/aggro-pop tree that spawned Stain'd and P.O.D., but this Portland, Maine four-piece temper their raw sound with an intentional melodic pop sensibility, giving their rousing presentation more rhythm and, definitely, more control.

Lead singer Craven's vocals are strong, defiant and emotionally tense. This is clearly apparent in "5", a track which sounds amazingly like early Stone Temple Pilots, while the anthem-like song, "TinCan Experiment" (about taking chances), and the groove-heavy "Method" stand out especially due

to a compelling singing style matched up with catchy beats.

6 Gig's overall approach allows them to give the music prominence, while simultaneously showcasing their impressive screeching/crunching/grinding guitars, their pummeling drums, full-bodied bass lines and compact song structures.

Methinks I like.
