The Doctor and Mel explored the delights
of the TARDIS frozen yogurt room until they arrived at their destination. They entered the console room to discover one of
the future incarnations of the Doctor examining the console.
"Ah there you are. The Doctor, my Doctor, told me to travel
with you two for a while. She said I might be useful. Actually she said get out from under my feet but I knew what she meant.
The name's David by the way. David Mason."< /p>
"Ah well then welcome. I'm the Doctor and this is Mel." The Doctor
flipped his hat in the air, getting it to land on the tip of his umbrella. "Say hello Mel."
"Hello David, ignore him he
likes to show off."
"Now then. We're supposed to find out about this piece of a transmat and learn how it ended up on a
steam ship in 1912 right? But there are wider issues that will prevent me exploring the matter personally. I hope she knows
how I feel about subcontracting, especially to myself."
"Well I'm sure she knows what she's doing especially as she was
you apparently."
"Yes, yes. Well memory is always a bit of a mystery and the chances of us meeting like that have to be
taken into consideration. It was too convenient to make me think it was just co-incidence."
The TARDIS materialised. Mel peeked out
of the doors. "It looks like the Moon all right Doctor, except there's air to breathe." Mel sported a seemingly identical
outfit to the Doctors except her jacket was pale pink.
The Doctor emerged next followed by David who was also wearing an
identical outfit as this Doctor, his jacket however was a bluey grey.
"If we all look the same it will confuse them more,"
the Doctor explained. "I have a feeling we are dealing with a group mind rather than an individual. When I mind-linked with
my future self I rummaged through some of her little used memories and learned a few things."
"That's cheating a bit isn't
it? Aren't we supposed to learn things for ourselves?"
"Yes, but these are unusual circumstances David. Unless we are prepared
it could be very dangerous indeed."
Jqiufuqf-alpha-alpha-beta-delta felt consciousness enter its mind and it became
one with the whole. Instantly it gained all the knowledge of it's history from the hatching of the first egg and discovering
though for the first time. It had killed all those like it but not of it. Over time more of itself had been hatched and the
line was kept secure and pure.
They explored the barren lunar-like surface, jumping over craters and small boulders
with ease. The Doctor found he could juggle seventeen rocks at once due to the low gravity.
The nest needed constant vigilance
to maintain total purity. When three intruders were located approaching the warriors were sent to kill the strangers.
Mel
saw them first, a cloud of tiny red insects flying towards them. She screamed a warning and looked for cover. The Doctor unfurled
his umbrella and started to wave it about. David pulled out a can of raid like John Wayne drawing his six-shooter.
The
insect repellent worked marvelously; the tiny bodies fell to the soft dusty ground making tiny craters. "I wondered why she
said I would need this."
"Yes, very thoughtful of me."
"Ah, you remember all this."
"Quite possibly." Somehow the
Doctor managed to make his eyes go into shadow.
The Nest was in an uproar. The impurity
was still heading their way.
"Ah-ha, over there. That orangey rock is actually a nest of sorts." The Doctor pointed
towards their goal with the tip of his umbrella. "One of the components of that transmat is in that nest."
"It's not very
big is it?" David stated the obvious with conviction.
"You were expecting something larger perhaps young man?"
The three
travellers turned around to see a man dressed in black.
"The Master."
