Austrian Bus Tour with Poppy Joe
Any sweat young things out there who would like to go with me to revisit the sites under more independent circumstances please feel free to write me at nflb@writeme.com Or maybe you would like to share a few winter weeks with me at my house on the Gulf of Mexico.

Austrian Power Dam
This dam was a marvel when first built. The locals were assured it would not bust and flood everyone. Rather after being filled to the rim a section of mountain collapsed into the water and so much water overflowed that most of the town died in the flood. The engineers then reassured everyone that it was again safe, but most survivors preferred to move to higher ground.

Salzburg Castle used in "Sound of Music"
This castle overlooks Saltzburg. The bus drove through a tunnel under a castle to the elite town where the Royals preferred lived and danced to Mozart. We never actually toured the castle though. Salzburg appeared to be a magical city but without much parking for our bus to stop and let us out.

Ski Lift above Insbruck, Austria
The mountain extends up above this ski lift. I walked up there and my foot grazed a small bolder. It rolled down hill, hit another, and a small avalanche of about a dozen boulders came bouncing towards this chateau. A small girl narrowly missed being hit, but most of the boulders landed in a vacant yard behind the chateau. The view of the mountain tops was breathtaking and I could see across Austria to Switz and German Alps. I also saw a hang glider, the first I ever knew of such a wonderful cheap sport.
