This is a poem I wrote when I was feeling particularly depressed. It relates to
feelings of loss, sadness and despair.
The Abyss
If you don't notice me I think I might die
If you don't find
the time to tell me how you feel
Every night I long for you, I sit alone and cry
This love is meant to be, this love
is real
I stare into the abyss but I will not jump
What is life but a pack of useless lies?
But that's a given,
tell me something I don't know
We nurture every spark and flame until it dies
Forever extinguished, a fraud and a fake,
all for show
I stare into the abyss but I will not jump
I see corruption and corrosion, a world of decay
We swarm across
the globe, a reckless menace, a plague of lice
And everyone knows the truth, they just don't say
They while away their
pathetic lives and dream of paradise
I stare into the abyss but I will not jump
And this love I still feel drives me slowly insane
I know the
world will make sense if I share it with you
But my hopes are drowned by a spiralling, swirling rain
My whole being
is weary, laden down, soaked through
I stare into the abyss but I will not jump
Though I cannot believe in a better
world for any of us
