Kasia Bielak-Hoops is now a junior at the Eastman School of Music. She studies with Alan Harris, whom she followed to Eastman from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1999, and to Cleveland from the Aspen Music Festival. She grew up in Colorado Springs, CO, and began playing the cello at the age of 10. |
| Besides Aspen, she has also attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in MI and the Fuji International Youth Musicale in Japan. It was there that she truly saw the universal language of music bring together youth from many cultural backgrounds, which inspired her to want to connect people from all over the world with the sharing of music. | |

A walk through Kasia's bedroom reveals an array of hanging butterflies, Asian decor that reminds her of Japan, purple purple everywhere (so why is this page blue? Because purple is Leanne's favorite color too and she made the website.), and decor by such varied artists as Dali, Escher, Parrish, and Van Gogh. An avid swing dancer, she is one of the founding members of Eastman's swing dance society, the Scat Kats, and can frequently be found dancing when the quartet isn't rehearsing. |
